A Film Adventure//Coffee//Friends//Olympus Trip

As I was coming to an end of my film supplies and after a little rummaging. I found an old b/w film, which was at least 3 years out of date. 

However, I decided to just go ahead and use it, despite not particularly thinking through what for.

So I put it in my charming, little 35mm Olympus Trip camera, which has become a recent handbag essential, and got a little snap happy. 

As a 100 ISO film, I needed to use the flash quite alot, especially when indoors. But I think I've managed to get some lovely results, of some lovely friends.

Somewhere Elsewhere

I guess i'm somewhat lacking in inspiration, motivation and well lets face it, having a serious photographers block, i'm not too sure what they're technically called, or if they're even a thing! 

But in attempt to get myself out of this; i've been looking through some old photo's, and this wood looked pretty idyllic. So I ask you to perhaps join me in this place, somewhere elsewhere, or if you'd be so kind, to help me out of this photographers block...

An everyday occurrence

As a photographer, my personal aim is to find the beautiful within the everyday, to highlight the moments we would normally pass by. So when I realised I'd walked passed this garage every time I'd walked to the train station and back I had to photograph it. 

Taking it just as it is; worn down, with wallpaper decaying and walls graffitied. I still found it beautiful, and to me even more enchanting, than perhaps it used to be.

Landfalls Exhibition - Stephen Brigdale

I am currently interning for Stephen Brigdale for his exhibition at the Bargate Momument Gallery. - Landfalls - The Titanic & Place by Stephen Brigdale explores the cities, along with key sites and places linked with the Titanic's construction and journey. 

Four of us students have been actively involved in installing the show for 2 weeks and now look forward to 5 weeks of invigulating the show.

A waiting game

Third year seems to be taking it's toll. I'm in desperate need of making some new images, but everything seems to be stopping me...I'm waiting for my film to arrive and in the mean time trying to seek out the best interiors for my final major project. And to throw a spanner in the works, there's the added bombshell of a darkroom refurb a month before our deadline. But on the bright side I am feeling inspired and raring to go for my final major project, WHEN my film arrives!

I took this in Berlin during my inter-railing trip in summer 2010.

Valentines Day: Lands End

Faithful readers, I wish you all a very happy Valentines day.

I guess a part of me is sorry I haven't presented you with a 'pretty' cliched image, but then the other part isn't. After all maybe this is a more realistic representation. So which ever path you take, I bid you a happy one, may it be with the right one.

Plans are over-rated.

So as we embark on a new year, naturally we begin to ponder on the previous one; most probably focus on what we did or didn't achieve. I could sit here and bore you with my brand new set of new years resolutions, like how I'm going to grow my hair and have a longer locks than Shakira, or how I aim to be more organised, and not be finishing a uni project at 2am the day before hand in. But I know myself too well; I'll let my best friend cut my hair in about a weeks time, and most probably change my mind and start my project from scratch, with a week to go. 

So I've decided, plans are over-rated, I think it's safe to say all my elaborate life plans, haven't even had the chance to see the light of day, and so this year I have decided, to go with out them. It’s simple, take each day as it comes, don't worry about tomorrow because tomorrow it'll be too late to worry about today. And no I'm not saying we shouldn't aim to achieve our goals, I mean it is possible I'll have luxurious, long hair by the summer that even Shakira covets!

So this may seem ridiculous as I head towards a year of graduation and ultimately one of the most important years of my life. But I think that I can do it, the worlds my oyster as one would say. So wherever I may find myself at the end of 2012 whether that’s in Bristol, Southampton, London, South America or God forbid, Scotland. The one thing I do promise you is, I’ll keep taking photos! So, are you with me?
